Mahniya Humphrey came into this world seven months ago with challenges. She had “aqueductal stenosis,” a blockage in her brain between two ventricles. Fluid compressed her brain, taking up most of her skull and pressing her brain into a small sliver of space against the bone.

She also had a vast extended family of friends — because her father, grandfather and great-grandfather were all coaches and spent much of their lives in Lantana and Lake Worth.

On Saturday, the community will rally around Mahniya and her parents and raise money for her upcoming surgeries and medical care.

What: Lantana Reunited Third Annual Reunion-Benefit-BBQ Bash

When: 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday

What: Three bands, a barbecue with domestic and imported German beer, raffles and prizes. All proceeds to benefit the medical care of Mahniya Humphrey.

Where: American German Club, 5111 Lantana Road, just west of Haverhill Road.

Cost: $10 donation at the door.
